Overview
SureFlapTM cat flaps recognise the ID chip already implanted in
your cat, allowing access to your pet and making unwanted visitors
a thing of the past. Your home becomes a secure environment for
your pet, leading to a happier, more relaxed animal.
No need for a collar or tag which can get lost or even worse caught
on branches, etc.
Operation
Operation of SureFlapTM couldn’t be simpler. Once the unit
is installed and the batteries put in place, the flap can be put
into learn mode. The next time your cat passes through the flap,
the unique ID code of its chip is put into memory. Now SureFlapTM
unlocks whenever your cat wants to come into the house.
Multiple cats are no problem. Up to 32 cats can be programmed into
the flap at the same time.
Battery life
Typical battery life is greater than 6-months. A low battery indicator
is provided to tell you when replacement batteries are needed.
Manual lock
The 4-way manual lock allows you to lock the door in any combination
of in/out. For example vet mode allows your cat to enter the house
but keeps him inside for the next trip to the vet.
Why SureFlapTM
SureflapTM has been developed in conjunction with vets and animalcare
(identichip) the UK's leading microchipping orgainisation. It has
a number of benefits over the other models available on the market
being that it does not require hard wiring into your mains supply,
the scanner is built around the entire flap so there are unlikely
to be any problems if your pets chip has migrated, and finally the
number of cats which can programmed is much greater than that of
all other models.
FAQ'S
What is a microchip?
A microchip is a tiny implant about the size of a grain of rice.
In a painless procedure, your vet injects this under the skin of
your cat, between the shoulder blades. Your cat now has a permanent
ID without the worry of a collar or tag becoming detached.
The microchip is computer readable and lasts indefinitely as it
doesn't need a battery to operate. Each microchip has a unique ID
number that is put onto a central database together with your address
details.
If your cat becomes lost then all vets and re-homing centres are
equipped with a special scanner to read the microchip. They can
simply look up the ID number on the database and give you a call
to return your cat.
Can a microchip wear out?
Microchips don't contain any battery and therefore have an indefinite
lifetime. The special scanner required to read the microchip supplies
the tiny amount of power it needs each time it is read.
Also, there is no limit to the number of times that the microchip
can be read. It should continue running at least as long as your
cat!
Does SureFlapTM work with my cat's existing
microchip?
Yes. SureFlapTM has been designed to work with by far the most
common type of microchip, the FDX-B (15-digit) that is used throughout
the UK and the rest of Europe. If in doubt then your vet can confirm
the microchip type in your animal.
How does SureFlapTM know
my cat's microchip number?
When SureFlapTM is put in learn mode then the door is unlocked.
The next cat to go through the flap has its microchip read and the
code put in memory, permanently. Your cat will now be recognised
by SureFlapTM.
Using this learn mode you don't have to force an uncooperative
cat through the flap. Just leave SureFlapTM in learn mode and let
him go through in his own good time... Simply repeat this process
with multiple cats.
Can another cat have the same microchip
number and get in?
No. Each microchip has a unique ID number, so next door's cat has
no chance of making it through the flap.
My cat isn't microchipped.
How do I change this?
We can help Contact Us to book an
appointment. The procedure is a quick, painless injection of the
microchip between the shoulder blades of your cat.
I have more than one cat. Can SureFlapTM learn
all of them?Yes. SureFlapTM can remember up to 32 different cats
at the same time - more than enough for most people's lifetime!
Even if you exceed the limit of 32 cats, then the oldest codes
are replaced first. There is also the option to wipe the memory
if you mistakenly program the wrong cat in...
What happens when
I change batteries - is the memory kept?
Yes. Once a cat is learnt then it stays in memory whether the batteries
are in place or not.
What size hole do I need to mount SureFlapTM?
Full mounting instructions are provided in the user
manual.
What type of doors
can SureFlapTM go in?
Full fitting instructions for all door types are given in the user
manual.
Fitting in most door types is straightforward. If installing SureFlapTM
in a metal door then an oversize hole is required in order to operate
(full details in the manual). An easy check for a steel plate in
your door is with a magnet.
